| Rev. Don
Neumann was installed as the minister of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church on
July 9th 1995
A graduate of Buckeye Central High
School, Rev. Neumann, was ordained in 1981 after earning his Master of Divinity Degree
from Trinity Lutheran Seminary of Columbus.
He served as minister at Cando Lutheran
Church, Cando, North.Dakota., before being named to replace Rev. James Barkenquast, who
retired. Rev. James Graeser then served as interim pastor for approximately one year.
Pastor Neumann was born in Shelby and
married the former Sandra Artz from Tiro on June 18, 1964. They have four grown children,
Gail Elizabeth, Matthew Don, Joseph Hyun and Nicole Lee, and seven grandchildren.
In 1981, Rev. Neumann went to Glenfield,
N.D., to serve as pastor of Glenfield/Grace City Lutheran Parish. He became minister at
the Cando Lutheran Church, a Trinity Lutheran Seminary internship site, in 1986.
Before entering the seminary in 1977, he
was a teacher at Fair Park Elementary and Taft Middle School and then in 1972 became
principal of North Main Street School, all in the Marion City School District.
Pastor Neumann earned a Bachelor of
Science in education and a Master of Arts in education, administration from Ohio State
University in 1966 and 1973 respectively.
While in North Dakota, Pastor Neumann
served on the Board of Directors, Glenfield Volunteer Fire Department for three years and
the Cando City Police Commission for six years.
District and synodical positions
include: Eastern North Dakota Synod representative to the North Dakota Conference of
Churches; chairperson of the Faith and Order Committee and vice-president of the North
Dakota Conference of Churches; Eastern North Dakota Synod, Devils Lake Conference member
of the Candidacy Committee which approved certification of pastoral candidates; Eastern
North Dakota Synodical Ecumenical representative to the National Consultation on Synodical
Ecumenism in Chicago.
Pastor
Neumann assumed ministerial duties at St. Pauls Lutheran Church June 15, 1995.
